This is our chance to show the Roundtable that Georgia Commuter Rail must be placed on the transportation project list to achieve true regionalism and equity in our state. Our voice will be even stronger if we deliver a consistent message, so make sure to read information on our improved approach and view maps of new alignments if you plan to make a public comment at the meeting. Read even more information about why rail transit makes sense for Atlanta, provided by Georgia Commuter Rail supporters Fair Share for Transit.
Remember, this is the only viable commuter rail project that has been proposed to the Roundtable. Georgia Commuter Rail is now substantially less expensive than any other rail line on the Metro Atlanta Roundtable’s current project list, with a reduced cost of less than $500 million. This amounts to about 40 percent of the original estimated cost. The improved approach will energize the three cities around the airport area, encourage more transit-oriented development and provide direct links to MARTA, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the Georgia Science and Technology Park at Ft. McPherson. In less than five years, this pilot rail line could be complete.
If you can’t attend one of these meetings, we hope you’ll view the complete list of public meetings to find another near you. We hope to see you at an upcoming meeting — there is no better time to show your support than now.
